How to Accept Payments Using the Tap‑To‑Pay App

Taking payments and tracking cash is quick and easy with the FrontDoor+ POS App.

This quick guide will help you use the Tap‑To‑Pay app and card reader to take payments quickly and confidently. Tracking whether a guest paid with card or cash helps us understand what types of tickets are most popular, which is super helpful when applying for grants and planning future events.

Note: Your event organizer may provide a device that already has the app installed. Ask before your shift starts.


🔐 Logging In

  1. Open the FD+ POS App.

  2. Enter the PIN provided by your event organizer.

  3. If you're already logged in, you’ll skip the PIN screen.


🔋 Power Up & Pair the Card Reader

  1. Turn on the WisePad 3 card reader before opening the app.

  2. Watch for the orange (!) reader icon—if it disappears, you’re paired; if it stays, pairing is needed.

  3. To pair:

    1. Click the "Reader" menu option to bring up the pairing options.

    2. Press the card reader’s power button to show its serial number. Match the last four digits in the app search screen.  When devices are rented from us, we list these digits on the back of the card reader.

Start an Order

  1. Tap the Order icon at the bottom.

  2. Tap + or to select the number of tickets or items.

  3. Tap Review (X items) to see the total amount.

Take Payment

  • Card payment:

    1. Confirm the amount on the Review screen.

    2. The card reader activates—ask the guest to tap or insert their card.

  • Cash payment:

    1. Enter the amount received.

    2. The app calculates change automatically.

Finalizing the Sale

  • If the card is used, wait for “Payment Approved.”

  • If cash, check the entered amount.

  • Tap Finish to complete the sale and reset for the next guest.


💡 Tips for Success

  1. Stay calm and tap on. The app will guide you through each step.

  2. Need to reset the reader? Use a paperclip to press the pinhole beside the USB port for 5 seconds—then re‑pair if needed.

  3. Pairing issues? Close the app, power cycle the reader, and restart the app.

  4. Keep charged. Ensure your phone is fully charged if you’re using your own device. The car reader typically lasts all day.

  5. Log every sale. Including cash — it helps the organizers reconcile totals accurately.

  6. Bring good vibes. Smile, greet guests, and make payments feel friendly—not business-like.
