How to Accept Payments Using the Tap-To-Pay App

Taking payments and tracking cash is quick and easy with the FrontDoor+ POS App.

This guide walks you through how to use the FrontDoor+ Tap-To-Pay app so you can accept debit, credit, and mobile wallet payments with confidence.

Tracking whether a guest paid with card or cash helps us understand what types of tickets are most popular, which is super helpful when applying for grants and planning future events.

Note: Your event organizer may provide a device that already has the app installed. Ask before your shift starts.


🔐 Logging In

  1. Open the FD+ POS App.

  2. Enter the PIN code organizer provided.

  3. If the device is already signed in, the app will skip the PIN screen automatically.


🔋 Power On and Connect the Card Reader

Before taking payments, the WisePad 3 card reader needs to be turned on.

  1. Power on the card reader.

  2. Open the POS app.

  3. Watch for the orange (!) reader icon:

    1. If it disappears, you’re already paired. 

    2. If it stays visible, pairing is needed.

  4. To pair the reader:

    1. Tap "Reader" in the bottom app menu.

    2. Press the power button on the card reader so its serial number appears on screen.

    3. Match the serial number shown in pairing results screen in the app with the last four digits printed on the back of the reader or displayed on the card reader screen.

Start an Order

  1. Tap the Order icon at the bottom of the screen.

  2. Tap + or buttons to adjust the quantity of tickets or items.

  3. Tap Review (X items) to check the order before taking payment.

Take Payment

  • Card or Mobile Wallet (Tap, Insert, or Phone Tap):

    1. Confirm the amount on the Review screen.

    2. The card reader activates: ask the guest to tap or insert their card.

  • Cash payment:

    1. Enter the amount the guest gives you.

    2. The app will show any change that needs to be returned.

Finish the Sale

  • For card or wallet payments, wait for the message “Payment Approved.”

  • For cash payments, confirm the amount entered is correct.

  • Tap Finish to close the order and return to the main screen.

Receipts can be emailed if the guest requests one.  Most events do not require printed receipts.

 


💡 Tips for Success

  1. Stay calm and take your time. The app guides you step by step.

  2. Need to reset the reader? Use a paperclip to press the small reset button beside the USB port for 5 seconds then reconnect in the app.

  3. Pairing issues? Close the app, turn the reader off and on, then reopen the app.

  4. Keep charged. Ensure your phone is fully charged if you’re using your own device. The card reader typically lasts all day.

  5. Record every payment. Including cash.  It helps the organizers reconcile totals accurately.

  6. Bring good vibes. Greet guests with a smile.  You set the tone at the entrance!
