How to Avoid Facebook Ticket Scams (and What to Do If You Already Got Scammed)
Staying safe when buying tickets online
Scammers sometimes comment on Facebook event posts claiming to have “extra tickets.”
This guide shows you how to avoid these scams and what to do if you already purchased a fake ticket.
✅ How to avoid being scammed
Buy from the official event link
If an event uses FrontDoor+, the secure checkout page will always be at events.frontdoor.plus.
Purchases made through the official link are always valid.
Avoid buying tickets from Facebook comments
Scammers use comment sections because buyers assume the post itself is trustworthy.
Do not trust screenshots of tickets
A real ticket should come from the official FrontDoor+ system. Scammers will often send the same screenshot to several people.
Watch for common red flags:
- Brand-new or incomplete Facebook profiles
- No real photos or very few friends
- Pressure to “buy quickly”
- Refusal to meet in person
- Requests for e-transfer or gift cards
✅ If you already bought a fake ticket
Report the Facebook profile
Use Facebook’s “Report Profile” and “Report Comment” tools to help stop the scam.
Contact your bank or credit card company
Explain that you paid a fraudulent seller. Banks deal with these situations often and may be able to reverse the charge.
Save your screenshots. Keep copies of:
- The Facebook conversation
- The seller’s profile
- The ticket images they sent you
Let the event organizer know
Organizers appreciate knowing when fake sellers are targeting their guests. They may also warn others on their event page.
